So I’ve noticed that recently I’ve had new visitors to my blog. I don’t do much on this one, I’ve started a new blog here https://oncarriesmind.wordpress.com where I do my writing now. Hopefully people will follow that one.
Thank you to everyone who has stopped by! It’s nice to have company 😁
This weekend we said goodbye to my grandma. She lived a good long life. It was nice to be able to go “home” after so many years of being away.
The last time I was back in New Brunswick was 25 years ago to visit my Great Grandmother. My mom, sister and I went down and we were able to take our children, my oldest daughter and my oldest niece. My daughter was a year old and my niece was 3 months.
This trip, we did a little bit of driving around and mom pointed out to my sister and myself where our family had first settled in Burtts Corner on MacLean Settlement Road.
The original homestead is still there (not the home, just the land) and across the road from it was, apparently, where my sister and I were for a year when we were small.
It was a nice trip, would have been better under different circumstances.
Well another day is done. I have officially been promoted to department manager, finally, I’ve only been doing the job for the past month. Of course, just as I get the position and am able to tell people, another of the staff from my department give their notice, so now it’s me and one other person. Makes it hard to schedule for 7 days a week with days off and accurate coverage. Oh well, guess I’m just going to have to do what I can until I get more people.
So I got myself a cordless hedge trimmer, was finally able to try it out tonight, and will finish tomorrow. I feel like past 8:30 pm is too late to be out using power type equipment in a residential neighborhood, maybe it’s just me. I like the trimmer, just wish the hedge had been better taken care of before I moved in, it’s going to look pretty bare on the neighbors side and on the top, but that’s what has to be done for it to look good in the future. Then, perhaps, I’ll even cut the grass, just hope it doesn’t rain again. There’s a sweet old man across the street who cut the grass for me a couple of weeks ago, he likes to help people and be neighborly.
So the kids had to visit the dentist today. The oldest is funny when her face is frozen. Today she was convinced her tongue was swelling up or that her teeth were getting bigger. It would be understandable if she were young, but she’s 18. I can’t wait for them to pull her wisdom teeth, it makes me think of all the videos on YouTube of people after the dentist.
I know there was more I wanted to write about, but I can’t think of it at the moment. Perhaps I’ll remember and then have something to write about tomorrow.
So this year is the 100th anniversary of the Calgary StampedeCalgary stampede. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s basically a big 10 day rodeo with a carnival. It’s known as “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth” and draws people from all over the globe. I worked there when I was a kid and had a blast, it’s how I managed to buy my first car. I’m curious as to how many people will be there this year, the numbers have been going down over the last couple of years. If I didn’t have to work almost every day and if it wasn’t so expensive, I might actually think about going.
Well, can’t think of anything else right now, so I guess I’ll stop.
Well, it’s been a little bit since I started this and figure maybe I should write some more. There are days when I have so much to say but don’t have the time to write it down, and then there’s days where I have all the time in the world, but can’t think of what to write.
I’ve been watching “August Rush” when I go to bed at night, it’s one of my favorite movies. I like the idea of “music bringing people together” and then later helping them to find each other again. It might be a little far fetched in the sense it’s portrayed in the movie, but it’s still a nice idea.
I finally went to my parents place and got my utility trailer, now I just need to get it looking purdy lol. I have been thinking of getting back into my landscaping, maybe I can save enough to buy myself a bigger trailer! Mine is only a 3′ x 5′ and I think I would like at least a 5′ x 8′. We have some at work that are all metal and have the drop down tail gate that could be used as a ramp, mine just has a piece of plywood across it and nothing else. I did pick up a can of black tremclad for the wheel wells and the main part and I saw a can of black paint to do the wood. Then I think I’ll replace the clearance lights with new LED lights and maybe the brake lights in a little while.
I’m sure if anyone is reading this it’s very boring but I just need to get stuff written down, kinda like a little push for me to get things done. It would probably be easier doing this on my laptop that isn’t working, think I need to stop letting the kids use it. This is not the first time they’ve “lost” windows to be able to load the system, I have no idea what they do. And they wonder why their sister won’t let them use hers.
Well, should probably get to bed now, gotta work in the morning. I love my job, just wish I didn’t have to work all the time.
So here I sit, deciding to start a new blog. Not sure where it’s goiing to go, but today it starts. I will write about things happening in my life, books I’m reading or have read, perhaps books made into movies and my views on them. This is a new day, and every day is another.
